Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with disruption to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and enforcing penalties," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.
